3. Trim must always be painted white.

4. Only certain colors go together.

5. Paint colors must match furniture-exactly.

11. A long narrow hallway is made shorter by painting the ends dark.
In fact the opposite of the above myth is true. By painting the hallway with the same color make it look narrow. How ever painting one wall in lighter color and the other with darker color of the same shade creates the illusion of wideness.

12. The dining room and living room must be the same color.
Dining room and living room are often treated with the same color but the fact is that more strong co-ordination can be done by using some common motif, pattern or style. Complementary colors can also be used if there is small separating wall between the two rooms.
